Some time ago, I discovered your crazy summer project to reinvent desktop human-computer interaction with multitouch, I like it a lot and want to help you make it real. Do you accept my help?
I showed your crazy video to my fiancé and after watching the video, my fiancé was moving her fingers around his desk imagining her using this kind of computer. It was very funny to see that… As I wanted to play with it too, I search the web to find someone that worked on something like 10/GUI but don’t succeed…
I found tones of blogs posts and comments on your project. More than 200 000 results in Google (in less than 3 months)! Some bad comments. Some good comments. But generally very “constructive” comments of other people like me that find your ideas quite interesting and want to help and be involved in “10 fingers computing”. But I don’t succeed to find a piece of software to download and test 10/GUI so I start thinking about how to start the project.
The goal of building such a software is to continue your projet and search the right way to “reinvent desktop human-computer interaction with multitouch”. Making 10 fingers GUI (10/GUI) really a great experience is a real design challenge. A video was the good choice to start with but the next part is making the project real to enable peoples to test it, study their feelings and improve 10/GUI design principles.
Today I come up with an early demonstration of Con10uum. Regarding the hardware problem, I don’t actually have the hardware needed to run 10 /GUI principles. So I have only worked on the software problem part that you call Con10uum with 10 fingers multitouch screen.
This early work already enables me to make some very interesting results studying peoples that use it. This is only a beginning and if someone want to contribute to this project he is welcome…
Con10uum is free, will stay free and open source.
